Microalgae

12/03/2009 12:26 AM

Could you please, organize data base for renewable energy, specially related with growing, harvesting and conversion microalgae lipids to biodiesel? This is the one of the main goals for human future. My best regards to every one.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hasan

Great! Let's do it. I've been researching the possibility of using algae to purify wastewater, and then harvesting the algae for biodiesel production.

Even if everybody else might consider me to be inpolite and politically not correct: What is going on in the brains of some certain people posting their requests here? Why can't they do their own homework and, at least, use search engines to obtain data on their research field??

There is a lot of data available in the research and development community worldwide and every half-way educated person should be able to gather these data and evaluate them for their own purpose.

WOW!

I am half-educated by virtue of having been through more than half a current standard lifetime, and yet do not know a great deal about the specifics of all the various routes from algae to fuel. Nevertheless, I have been asked to speak at at least one renewable fuels conference. To me Dr Hasan's request seems reasonable.

More importantly, it is indisputable that Dr Hasan's request was very politely phrased. For that alone, he deserves praise, not ridicule. I work most directly in the electric car industry, and a comparable question there might be: Can someone organize a database of the available battery chemistries, their advantages and disadvantages, their production readiness or otherwise, scalability, projected dates of full scale production, country of manufacture, pricing, etc., etc.

To many people such a database would be of use, and a comparable database re biofuels production could be of use to many people as well, one could assume.

Your response is not merely impolite, it is just plain rude. How difficult might it be to refrain from responding if you do not find a question to your standards?

Hey, Go Easy Nudnik, next time it might be you that people jump on..

CR4 is such a wonderfully diverse site, with input from all over the world, and I for one appreciate all questions, and input.

Honestly, these great people on here have helped me in so many ways, if I were a rich man, I would do something for all of them, even my friend in Fl. who took exception to a little quiz I posted on here. Now, we are friends.

I find that the people from different non main english speaking countries sometimes cannot express their meanings in what we consider "proper English"..

But guess what folks, most of us cannot speak ANY of their language, so I think most do really well posting on here.

Just my two cents..

By the way, for any interested, we are designing a patented Lighting System to grow Algae, in case you are in that market.. :o)

Good morning,

I do not question the value of this forum and do very much appreciate the information which is exchanged on the various topics. As I am not a native speaker I also do not ridicule about the wording used. However, I cannot understand how people can expect to get a serious answer when posting here a question like: "Hey guys, anybody out there to my research work?" - Honestly, even when I was still studying I would not have dared to ask such a question. I rather went to the library, started the research and then asked experts on clearly defined topics (e.g. if I did not find enough literature).

Now come on, keep on picking at me!

Great idea! Something I've seriously been wanting to post about but never had the time.

I would suggest that you consult with the experts. http://www.greenstarusa.com/.

Like the man said, it's out there and already being done.

Reinventing the wheel is unproductive, reinventing how to make it turn however is quite a proper effort. It would appear to me that such a project when coupled with any process that emits CO2 would be beneficial to all of us in reducing green house gases, if they really do exist and are truly the downfall of mankind, and in providing alternative renewable fuel supplies that lessen our dependence on oil.

Whew! is it mildly warm in here to you? As the controversy stirreth, so doth the temperature rise...

On a lighter note:

Spinco says:"Like the man said, it's out there and already being done." I would have to agree. I do not wish to make light of the topic, but I've been growing microalgae in my pool for years. As of yet, though, I haven't perfected the harvesting and conversion of said algae, but I will certainly take it under advisement, as I wish to do my part also. Thanks for the cintillating conversation. Until we meet again, I bid you all adieu.
