Guest,

You forgot about Carols, turkey, Cakes, partying. bursting fire cracker on middle of night.Shop windows are decorated with Christmas shopping. Santa Claus in many shops, Children waiting for their gifts and singing "Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell............... Santa Claus coming around all the way".It is not to the scale of western countries but it is celebration time for all.

Suresh Sharma.

Hi wareagle,

Un like US and Europe Christians are minority in India, still Christmas is a declared holiday and is widely celebrated through out the Country. In metro cities like Delhi,Mumbay ( Bombay) Kolkotha ( Calcutta) Chennai ( Madras) and bigger cities like Banglore, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad the Christmas is celebrated from 24th December with midnight Mass,Christmas Carole singing , lighting and decoration and evening get together and parties, fireworks .Shopping malls are decorated with stars and Christmas trees. In countryside Christmas is more or less a religious festival with midnight Mass and Carol singing. It is considered time for Family get together as the schools are closed for Christmas Holidays. Delicious traditional non vegetarian food is prepared for Christmas along with Cakes ,sweets and cookies. Irrespective of religious background people exchange greetings on Christmas and New Year Days.

Where I live, there are neighborhood parties in the days before Christmas. People a shopping for presents. But most of all it is a time for family. Children come to their parents home and celebrate just being together. For me, I went to church and I will have a big dinner at my daughter's house and play with the kids toys.

My biggest hope this new year is that there will be peace in this world for everyone and we will recognize that we are all brothers.

I, too, wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I also truly and deeply hope that all people on this earth have less sadness, grief, and hardship; along with more health, wealth, and happiness in the coming year and beyond.
