Dear friends,what is the safe voltage limit that can be exposed in the hydrocarbon plants.....can we use battery operated ordinary device/meters in field ?which standard represents that?Thank you,....

I think its inversly proportional to the level of stupidity of the workers involved.
Smart workers may handle many hundreds of volts without ever causing problems. But the right idiot could manage to burn the whole place down with nothing more than a near dead AA battery as the ignition source!

Tornado is right.. Even voltage down 24 VDc can cause a spark that will ignite a hydrocarbon leak.
If you are using meters that are not intrisically safe, then you need to use a sniffer and make sure that there are no hydrocarbon leaks in the area, along with the proper hot work permit.
