Thermocouple and thermocouple machines

01/23/2007 11:10 PM

I am looking for SS316L shielded Type-K thermocouples with 0.5mm sheath metal in the form of volume sensor and machine for end cap forming. I will like to know the supplier of the raw thermocouples and end caping machine.

I will like to thank all for suggesting cost effective and quality technology. I want to put up a manufacturing facility for thermocouples of desired sizes from standard material, which I will like to import. I will also like to import machinery for forming thermocouples.

Omega.com produces a full line of these products and their engineering catalogues are great. I especially like the literature in the back of their catalogues that describe the physics of the products they make and how to use them.

I have used Omega products for over 20 years and have confidence in their products. The thermocouples are verified and found to be consistent for accuracy and reliability. I am responsible for all instrumentation and calibrations in our company. http://www.omega.com/

Best regards,

John

my purpose is to have a local facility to make thermocouples to the size from bulk material.

Try Tycothermal.com for the thermocouple wire (MI cables with different sheeting is available) They have nuclear approvals on some finished units so the base quality of the blank cable should be OK.

I cant help you on machinery, laser welding is used and the tips are to be checked by radiography.

Over time I've been buying TCs from omega. They're not that much expensive, it has been not even cheaper to buy in the internal market in Brazil similar products.

They also supply raw material, and have special prices for large quantities. Maybe a contact with them can give you a good deal, or, at least, the information about the suppliers themselves.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about the manufacturing equipment itself.

Rgds.

I believe "franchise" solution would be the most effective.

You may get some investors from USA or UK to enter India market this way.

You want this, right?

Material engineering in this case if easy/known is less effective than this one covered by know-how/patents.

Importing thermocouples in small sizes is difficult and asking each time to form to size and send by courier becomes very expensive. Idea is to buy bulk thermocouple which is ready to use except it is not formed in size. This requires cutting the gross material, forming the end cap and inserting the Teflon sleeve at the open end and is very basis type of tooling job. I will like to procure both thermocouple and tooling materials. I have no idea of who may be manufacturing or supplying the tools, while thermocouples may be available from many sources.
