jitu gla - "edta" maybe you got this word wrong for there is no such word. You are actually referring to chemical cleaning of a boiler to corrosion & remove scales.

what is ph value control in boiler - In order to minimize corrosion of boiler hardware, the pH of feedwater must be controlled within a narrow range. Too low a pH will result in excessive corrosion of iron components, while too high a pH will result in attack on copper containing parts.

The deposition of iron oxides, metallic copper, and other impurities on boiler tube surfaces causes loss of heat transfer efficiency at electrical power plants. Hence, the tubes are cleaned every 3 – 5 years in order to restore the heat transfer efficiency. Chelating agents, mainly ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) and its salts, have been extensively used for the removal of metal deposits from the boiler tube surfaces.

ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) - Thanks Alexander. Its a chemical name , i thought it was an english word. No wonder it is EDTA, my tougne is twisting in pronouncing the chemical terminology. You taught me something new.

Sodium EDTA is dosed into boiler feedwater as part of a maintenance regime. The chemistry, is not done in-house, is probably best administered as part of a contract with a specialised chemical dosing company.
