how much air is required to burn 1 ton of bagasse in boiler, pressure 42kg/cm2 and capacity 75TPH?

Theoretical minimum air required per kg to burn fuel can be calculated by following formula: 100/23(2.67C+8H+S-O) where C,H,S & O is percentage of carbon, hydrogen, sulphur and oxygen in fuel. For complete combustion you need to give excess air which varies from fuel to fuel

last I recall in gas burners: it was 1 part gas + 10 parts air. if the burner required 1000 cfm then air 10000cfm.Gas burner efficiency rated 10:1.

You have to check with boiler makers of bagasse-fired boilers if they take the same into account considering the sizes of mammoth blowers/ID & FD Fans. Your 75Tph really calls in for such blowers/fans.

Dear Mr. ducon,

You have referred air quantity for gaseous fuel. But Baggasse, which is a residue after crushing the sugar Cane and extracting juice - is called as baggasse, which contains very high VOLATILE MATTER .

This volatile Matter is released during combustion, and this volatile matter burns with a very long flame during combustion, and has flame length as high as 7.6 Metres (25 Feet) and hence more combustion chamber volume is provided, in order to achieve full combustion.

Indeed your data for fan HP is correct, as it requires large vol.of air. Incidentally Baggasse as 41% of Oxygen, other wise the air required for combustion will be enormous.

Dear Friend,

The Theoritical Air Required for Combustion of Baggasse is 3.84 Tonnes of Air/Tonne of Baggasse. This Quantity of Air is derived as per STOICHOMETRIC Equations/Calculations for Combustion, of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen available in the Baggasse. The analysis of Baggasse is as follows. C - 43%, H2 - 6.5%, O2 - 41%, Ash 1 to 1.5%

Olden days the Excess Air used in the Baggasse fired Boilers was 50% of Theoritical Air Required. Present day Boilers use Excess air of 35% and now even 25% Excess air also developed.

The Pressure of Boiler (as you have referred as 42 Kg/cm^2 ) HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AIR REQUIREMENT for Combustion. Usually Mill Baggasse as it comes out of Mill will have 50% Moisture.
