generator

i am using 80kva cater pillar make generator . Is earhting is compulsory. if yes then what the wire material & lenght & earthing material i have to used.

It is essential to earth the neutral and the body of the DG set for personnel's safety.U may use suitably sized GI strip for earthing the same.

Is this genset the only power source or is there a utility feed also?

Count me as 3 out of 3, Yes - You Should ! Use a wire sizing chart, calculate w/the Distance from points A to B, Voltage/Amps & then select your ground rod & wire just for that unit - & always apart from other power inputs ground location ( Keep the soil damp ). Use Copper Wire !

It depends on your local regulations which should be followed to avoid bureaucratic interference.
