Variable Speed Air Compressor

03/01/2010 2:00 AM

Hi everyone,

we are considering the purchase a large BOGE air compressor type SO181A, variable speed type. The price is rather lower than that from other competitors, so we suspect this might be related to lower quality. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with BOGE air compressors?

Dear,,There are various option for you to really shortlist..IT depends on ur application where you are going to use it..IF its for process industry you can evaluate the offers from the vendors and compare them .Clasify each of them based on the materials .Components seals etc.Which ever gets a better score as per you listing then you can compensate some money to go for better one.!!Also not the least Check for After sales services. and availability of local agent in your area.

Exactly what do you want or variable speed or variable pressure of air compressor?

application of compressed air - where or what?

if you need the pressure variation, you go for inger soll rand or atlas copco screw air compressor,it is unloaded automatically according to process pressure requirement.it is good and durable.this is standard manufacturer of screw air compressors.

thanks

The VFD for this apparently can be either built in, or a separate item. If it is separate, does the quoted price include this item? In any case, be sure that the total package (including air dryer of various possible types) is comparable among all bidders, or otherwise accounted for.

Yes ..Quote should be clearly looked upon to see that driver must be VFD and a support system your we can call it as auxilary system (seperate setup for VFD) shall be included in the offered price.Other wise after you place order you have to go indpendently to buy it....Flush out extra money!!

Went through this 4 years ago. Found that the price of most was generally the same. What the varied in price usually had more to do in what one company consider standard equipment and another consider an option. After adding on all the options to get them to a even playing field I then look at the price. Other things that will effect price is the warranty some were a year and some 5 years.

The one I chose price was a little more the the lowest. With standard 5 year warranty. All the bells and whistles were standard equipment.

The feature that sold me was the sump of the compressor held about three time the oil of its competitors. Heat generated by compressing air is great. The greater volume of oil will reduce the screw head temperature. The reduction in temperature should reduce long term wear. Giving the compressor a longer life. As of yet I have not seen oil temperature above 165° F. The last screw compressor ran a lot hotter that that.

Only down side to that was the cost of the PM in changing all that oil. Though it is not changed as often.
