Arc Chute

03/07/2010 3:39 PM

I'm trying to find an interactive display of how an arc chute operates to extinguish an arc. This is for training/information for inexperienced personal who are not familiar with the internal operation of switchgear.

Better than GA--excellent. I could have used this in a recent thread on Short Circuit Current.

For the OP, Bussmann Fuse has a great video on this. They goose an unsuitable CB with a huge fault current; the CB flies across the room. With a correct fuse, you see nothing but a tiny wisp of smoke.

On a recent thread about Jakob's Ladder Wall, Redfred posted a neat video of some 500kV switchgear interrupting a circuit with a bit of delay....

Visit this site, you will find many animations of Arc behaviour... this gif image is one of them.
