Pressure Transducers

03/09/2010 11:41 AM

Hello all, I am looking for some cheap Pressure Gauge for measuring water pressure between 1-8 atm. The idea is to take some transducer with 2 output wire and to cover the transducer with SILICON (RTV) .

Can you please give me ideas on how to do this? and what are the possible side effects by doing this. thanks Yonas

G0 here (not an endorsement) and type pressure transducer in the search box.

You'll need something to read the signal.

More detail, more answer.

And you'll find plenty of configurations that are submersible. Just check the min-max specs before you buy.

Forget about covering the transducer with RTV. The acetic acid used in it can be quite corrosive and may damage the transducer. If you water system is for potable water you should be using only "food grade" sealants and coatings. Edmund

We are using pressure sensors from Freescale Semiconductors For steam and hot water at 125ºC quite successfully.

You can see if there is anything suitable for your duty.

There are dozens of pressure transducers suitable for direct immersion in potable water. It's only a question of selecting one.

Try Platon Flowbits, Endress + Hauser, Jumo, etc. (usual disclaimer)

If it's for use in potable water it must comply with AWWA/AISI Standard #61 and accompanied with a Certificate of Compliance Letter.
