Just A Bad Computer Day

03/10/2010 5:11 PM

Had things working alright so that if I went to Craigslist I could reply to a job ad.

Then I worked at being able to post pictures.

Something went wrong and now I can't reply to ads.

Have to jump between safari and firefox.

Using Mac now.

Reset password. Two out of four passwords work.

The ones for outside the computer work. ie. gmail and hotmail, but what is in the computer from what I can tell, is the problem.

Really I am just complaining. Thanks.

P.S. Maybe I'll figure it out in a couple of days.

Hey Transcendian,

If it gets too much, let us know details. Without them, we can't discern between a stuck key and a virus. I do not envy your problem and hope it gets fixed quickly.

Since I spend about 90% of my life on the computer, cyberglitches are hell!

Take care!

P.S. Stuff like this needs to be gotten under control if Transcendia is to flourish.

Mike

Kept screwing with it and somehow was able to reply to the advert.

Took gyrations. CR4 shows up as the server, which puzzles me. I must have done something when I was practicing posting photos. Clearing History was apparently not a good idea.

Bought the Mac from an electrician dirt cheap, but never got a disc for it, and was once able to change the password for most functions, but continue to fail for what I understand as passwords internal to the machine. Bwire kindly gave me some advice that depended on the disc.

Wife bundled everything to some program from AT&T, so I am unsure of some server addresses. Didn't have a problem though till I posted some pictures to the Bath Breaking Thread, and cleared history.

When I used to somehow create a problem through my ignorance I used to know on the Hewlett Packard workstation how to go back and recover settings as they were before I screwed them up. Can't find that option as titled so I understand it for this machine.

It is a pretty good machine overall. One thing that it does weird is that if I put a disc in it to play, or try to put things on, like from the scanner printer, when I hit eject disc, it doesn't just do it, and sometimes days later I can somehow get the disc out.

Yes it is true that Transcendia is a bit diminished by computer and software incompetence on my part. Was a victory to get some ads on the site, and I have been able to post there with everything but spell check, or an ability to post a picture there.

When these things come up, I really appreciate help from friends on CR4.

You're welcome and then in follow up I sent you another that doesn't require the disc...
