How to Test Floating Ball Valves

03/23/2010 9:09 AM

Can we test the floating ball valves in any position either horizontal or vertical. Is there any comments in API6D or in API598 relating this.

For eg: 1" # 150 FBV RF FB Handle operated.

The orientation of the person conducting the test is of no importance. just watch out for falling asleep.

As far as the valve itself - please post a picture. I may have another float valve in mind.

These are valves where the ball moves and presses against the seat on one side when pressure is applied on the other end. The ball gets moved by the pressure and not the seats. Not trunnion mounted ball valves where the seats move. just wanted to know if API standards mention anything bout the mounting position of the valve.
