Of course. Its reactions with group 1 metallic elements (lithium, sodium, potassium....) are highly exothermic.

It has an interesting reaction with calcium carbide too.

If you can find a way to split it into its parts without putting in more enegy than you get out.

ie Hydrogen

and Oxygen

or get it to produce heat with a catalyst

If you live on the Cuyahoga River, there's a real possibility. . .

That' actually the river burning, in 1952 Cleveland. They think a spark from a passing train ignited it.

He might think its the water thats on fire

taken from http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/entry.php?rec=1642

Some River! Chocolate-brown, oily, bubbling with subsurface gases, it oozes rather than flows. "Anyone who falls into the Cuyahoga does not drown," Cleveland's citizens joke grimly. "He decays". . . The Federal Water Pollution Control Administration dryly notes: "The lower Cuyahoga has no visible signs of life, not even low forms such as leeches and sludge worms that usually thrive on wastes." It is also -- literally -- a fire hazard.

Because of this fire, Cleveland businesses became infamous for their pollution, a legacy of the city's booming manufacturing days during the late 1800s and the early 1900s, when limited government controls existed to protect the environment. Even following World War II, Cleveland businesses, especially steel mills, routinely polluted the river. Cleveland and its residents also became the butt of jokes across the United States, despite the fact that city officials had authorized 100 million dollars to improve the Cuyahoga River's water before the fire occurred. The fire also brought attention to other environmental problems across the country, helped spur the Environmental Movement, and helped lead to the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1972.

Hey now, It's not like that these days.

Though I think the gulf might soon be.

I took the above on a June 2009 River Cruise.

Yep. Cleveland has done a great job of cleaning up and bouncing back. Now, if they could do something with the Browns.

No! But, ...

A. When converted to H2 and O2 (indirectly from other sources of energy ~ e.g. nuclear, solar, etc.) using electrical energy, it may be used as an motile or welding fuel.

B. Steam has been used as a source of energy for machines etc.

C. Water (mass/gravity) has been used for centuries to run water mills.

D. Ocean waves and tide (mostly experimental) are being used to provide electrical energy.

E. Cold fusion (H2 isotopes from electrolysis of water) has not been perfected, but some scientists believe it may be possible in the future

F. Granny's kitty can get excited by it.

Let's say I had a submarine, I could install a desalinization system where I could remove the "salt" from the water through osmosis, then another system to separate the elements of the water to oxygen (used to breath while submerged) and hydrogen (used for fuel). Something like that might work.

Yes, you can....first you split the water into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis, then utilize a hydrogen fuel cell to convert the hydrogen to electricity, then use the electricity to run an electric motor....we do this every day....

What is Water Methanol Injection?

Methanol, also known as wood alcohol, carbonic acid, and methyl alcohol, is an alcohol chemical made up of one carbon atom, one oxygen atom, and four hydrogen atoms (CH3OH).

Methanol is a naturally occurring toxic, explosive, and very volatile liquid used for household purposes since the third century when the Egyptians used it in their preservation procedures.

It was initially created in the 1600s and later mixed with water and applied in supercharged fighter and bomber engines during World War II. After a few prosperous years, it was banned in the 1960s in NASCAR and F1 for giving racing engines too much power.
