Heat Transfer Coefficient

05/11/2010 1:44 AM

Hi Guys,

Can anyone advise the heat transfer coefficient (h) for hot water (heating medium) in a vessel jacket? I can calculate h for the process side and x/k for the stainless steel wall, but I am having difficulties finding a value for h on the jacket side. Any information regarding suitable websites to find this information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Aussie Ray

Quick number, assuming water both sides and no agitation, 565 W/m2/K, for an overall coefficient.

From Kern, p 717.
