I think it is only one transport mechanism.

William Hedley's "Puffing Billy", currently in passive retirement in the Science Museum, London, UK, had very few.

The cross-channel trains running from London St. Pancras to Gare du Nord, Paris, and to Brussels, have a very large number.

How about revisiting the question to make it more concise?
