It depends on how poorly the gear was made.

Dear Anonymous Poster,

From DESIGN CONSIDERATION and STANDARDS point, Less Z_NT Factor, (Life Cycle - STANDARD specifies and calls for 1x10^10, i.e 10E+10, but some Manufacturers adopt 5x10^7, i.e 5E+07 only), LESS APPLICATION FACTOR, LESS ROOT STRESS, LESS PITCH FACTOR, WRONG SELECTION OF MATERIAL etc., are some of the Errors.

From gear cutting/machining point, WRONG SELECTION OF CUTTER, IMPROPER PROFILE, HIGH or LOW BACK LASH, HIGH or LOW ROOT CLEARANCE, VARIATION in M.O.T VALUE, IMPROPER HEAT TREATMENT, Etc. are the Errors.

THANKS,

DHAYANANDHAN.S.
