Pipe Sizes

06/28/2010 9:31 PM

I am cleaning up an old Nye pipe threader; model 1-A Receding Stock, #A-18970. My handles are missing, but they don't seem to be 3/4" pipe--close, but a bit under the other 3/4" pipe I have.

Does anyone know if pipe size standards were changed, and approximately when? (When would give me a clue about the age of this tool.)

Apparently Nye is out of business; does anyone know if anyone succeeded them? There are a couple of other small parts that are also missing.

We found someone a thread size very recently, a really strange size indeed.

If you post the exact measurements (ID & OD) and the TPI here, you may get a good answer shortly......

You have simply not posted enough infos for us to help you......

I really do not think the NPT pipe thread standards have changed since they were officially adopted, way back in 1927 (the threads existed before then, but they were officially standardized in 1927). the most recent edit to the standard was 1968, but I've seen equipment built around the turn of the LAST century that modern NPT plumbing still screwed into. It IS possible that you may be looking at BSP threads or Dryseal threads or something like that.
