disable locks on jeep cherokee

A spare key. There are Devices sold that will store a key in a gas cap, or in a trailer hitch, as well as the magnetic hide a key. Pulling the fuse for the power door locks will solve the problem, but at what expense?

I would think, (I have NO experience with jeeps by the way) that there would be some kind of relay controlling the auto lock. you may be able to bypass this relay in relation to the ignition but finding it and figuring wether this will cause other problems is the hard part.

how about opening the window before you get out?

I learned my lesson very early on in my driving career after locking myself out of the car several times in the strangest places. Back then it was easy to unlock a door with a bent coat hanger borrowed from someone....it's not possible these days with the new lock systems and rubber moldings around the side windows; you'll need a set of "Jimmy Bars" borrowed from the cops or a locksmith (if you a lucky to find one at home and willing to venture out in the dark of the night)......

Do what I do, and you'll never be locked out of your vehicle again: carry a spare key inside your wallet! That's right, slip it into one the spare clear plastic photo sleeves and tape it shut so that it will not fall out!!!

Now, if only my beautiful brilliant wife would follow suit then I'd be way way way ahead of the local locksmith!

This is maybe a feature that a dealer can program for you, my last VW had 27 possible program sequences for door and boot locks.......just a thought!!

Iah yes I locked my self out a few times once with the jeep running there is a combination to change the lock settings , auto lock when started, auto lock when turned off and all doors shut or both and of course you can select none the problem is i forget the procedure. you hold the lock switch up (or is it down) for 6 or more seconds while turning on the ignition something like this. go into a chrysler dealer to the parts dept. and they can tell you. or look in your owners manual yle

GA to guest. The procedure should be in your owners manual. I did exactly this to disable the auto lock feature on my '06 Dakota and my '97 Ram. Being that they are both Chrysler Corp vehicles I am willing to bet that your Jeep is much the same. If you don't have your owners manual, as was already stated by Guest, your local dealership should be able to help you.
