Can any one tell me that citric acid can be used as cleaning agent for carbon steel pipes?. if not is there anyother suitable solvent . I am asking with reference to corrosion and any other adverse effect.

If corrosion is an issue, then try looking at other materials that might be more compatible for the chosen process fluid. The Cole-Palmer materials database is a good first stop.
