What is a Paddy? Is this homework. It must be homework. Are you being compensated for this "design" work?

Ah, some more information - From a duplicate (and now closed thread)..............

Good Day,

I am an Instrumentation and Control Engineering...

I am doing my Thesis now, can you please help me with the design of my topic, Automated Paddy Dryer

thanks...

Jeez, if I had a nickel for every thesis paper I have helped with on CR4.

I HOPE you have at least a plan for your thesis as the way you have asked indicates that you have just passed the thesis request directly on to CR4 without putting any work into it yourself!

<sigh> Ok, can you please explain what a "Automated Paddy Dryer" is?

Is it for drying out "paddy rice"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddy_field

Can you please provide more information and specific questions, CR4 is NOT a homework cheat site and for a thesis paper this means people on CR4 may be willing to help you with specific questions, but not do your thesis paper for you.

I'm thinkin' hands, but our poor student has a long road ahead.

And, what has his instructor been doing? This guy should at least have been given some basic rules. Is he looking for an optical moisture sensor for shutoff?

Wow!

With no actual specific questions answered or clear details on what is being asked for, more information will need to be supplied by markkerwin .

On a side note I had a good Irish (Patrick) joke planned but could not for the life of me find a politically correct way to express it. Damn you "political correctness" for ruining fair-use innocent humor that those of Irish-descent would probably get a chuckle out of.

<shakes fist in air at intangible concept>

Oh well, it was fairly obvious anyway if you think about it.

No, I think I will take the moral high ground on this one

Plus, thinking about it further, a joke regarding an "Automated Drunk Paddy Drying Out Machine" isn't really THAT funny.

I just want to ask what components can you suggest for the dryer, I am thinking of using Heating Coils, Thermostat, and Thermocouples

Re: Automated Paddy Dryer

Can you please describe in detail exactly what a paddy is? Is it rice (most of us are guessing rice), if so exactly what form of rice? In what form is the (rice) before it enters the paddy dryer, and in what form does the product need to be after it leaves.

There is still confusion as to exactly the product to be dried is, and the exact form of the product will dictate what heating, drying and measuring technology is best. This appears to be a specific industrial process and as such the machinery (generally) needs to be tailored to the specific requirements of the product

Additionally what size is the drier and how much product do you want to dry per batch/hour, etc? Is this for bench-top concept demonstration model or a full-sized industrial plant?

Please provide more detailed information.

This is a machine that makes the drying process easier

it has three stations, the first station is where the moisture content of the paddy is measured.

After measuring the moisture content, the operator can now set the desired temperature and the desired moisture content of the paddy.

the start button will then be pressed and the process of drying will starts

if the desired moisture content is reached, the drying process will stops and the paddy will enter into the collecting station

If the temperature of the dryer increases or decreases, the system will automatically adjust depending on the set temperature

"This is a machine that makes the drying process easier" Easier than what?

Perhaps it has been lost amongst the other posts:

WHAT IS A PADDY? A rice paddy? How do you move a rice paddy from station to station?

So, it's clearly NOT for hand drying.

Hmmm. Well, OK.

If the grains of rice in the background of the image are representative, the machine looks sort of small... one or two grains at a time?

OK,

This is a start. Now, I'm not sure that you need 3 stations, but for now, take each station seperately, and define the requirements of same. What does it have to do?

What instruments are required? What controls? etc.

1. Moisture content station

2. Drying station

3. Storage

Re: Automated Paddy Dryer

I'm planning to put a moisture meter on the first station, The first station is just a container that has a moisture meter on it, the Rice Plant's Moisture Content will be measured in this station...

The drying station is the big question for me, I'm not sure what components will I use. in the dryer, the desired moisture content of the rice plant will be set and when it reached, the drying process will stops.

I already have a plan for the temperature control system of the dryer, I am planning to use a temperature controller, temperature control valve and a temperature sensor, I'm also planning to use heating coils... what you think?

Thank you for your time and I am very sorry for the inconvenience...
