Hoist Testing

07/22/2010 7:12 AM

We were testing the hoist designed for 5 t but at 900 kg started sliding and the load remains at the same height.

Expert opinion for the root cause is requested.

With regards,

Nilesh.

Something has changed since the original test was carried out. Find out what it is and fix it.

Then why not let that expert witness the test?

No-one on CR4, apart from the original poster, has seen the test!

Nor will any responsible responder offer you any advice that will lead you to avoid any safety issues involved with such a test.

Please describe the hoist.

If it is an electrically powered drum winch, the motor brake might be slipping, or something may be blocking the brake from engaging.

If it is a hydraulic unit, a valve might be leaking by, or a cylinder piston seal may be leaking.

Your description of "started sliding and the load remains at the same height" is inconsistent.
