Wiring Diagram for 2 HP yl90l-4 Electric Motor

Can you provide-motor name plate data? who made the motor? is it three phase single speed ? if you need a reversing contactor rated 2HP what is the FLA?

Motor is on a pm 1236 lathe. Factory was called stateside, they sent 2 diagrams, but neither matched our maching

Now, my experience 35 years industrial A/C repair and wiring. Owner of a 52 man operation, designed and developed many pieces of equipment that are a standard of the industry today. So smart remarks are not needed!.

This motor was taken to 2 motor repair companies and both advised "this is Chinese motor" no help, no idea.

We opened motor and checked for broken or rubed wiring. This is a wired wiring set up.

Are there any wiring diagrams located within the motor terminal box housing?

What information is marked on the motor?

What country are you in and what brand and age of lathe is this?

Industrial three phase lathe or residential single phase hobby lathe, etc?

More information would greatly help us.

I question your experience man its obviously either a star or delta connected motor go & get a lic electrician to fix this ffs

What does the motor manufacturer have to say on the topic?

It is highly inadvisable to post an e-mail address in an international forum. E-mail addresses are easily harvested by spambots. They quickly bombard it with advertisements for non-prescription pharmaceuticals, scam requests to update on-line banking details, links to matters of an intimate nature and scams purporting to be about getting large sums of money out of Nigeria, rendering the address practically useless.

If the box got ripped off, you may have damage inside the motor, as in the wires may have been partially pulled out of the motor housing and some of the insulation may have been damaged => possible fire.

If the motor can be taken off the machine without causing a heart attack or stroke, I would recommend taking it to a motor rewinder and have them look at it. They will also be able to tell you how to connect it.

The Red, Black,Blue wires coming from the contactor are the three power phases, the connection sequence of which will determine the direction of rotation of the machine. When reconnecting it, if it runs backwards, reverse two of the phases.

Hi Ernie I have found in the past with single phase split start motors, which is what I think you have, you do need to remove the motor and test it on a bench to find the correct configuration of connections.

It will take time, the other option is to get it rewound or buy new

unless someone has the diagram for that motor its gonna be real difficult, but something tells me you know that already...

Look up the motor wiring diagram in manual.

It shows a capacitor start capacitor run wiring connection arrangement.

The wiring diagram has 4 wires coming out of the top hole...

red,yellow,blk, blk

Bottom hole:

red. red yellow

I have :

top hole red, red, black

bottom hole:

red, red, yellow

This wiring almost looks like a rotor phase generator.... but the motor is single phase.

Does your motor have two capacitors on it, one capacitor, or none?

What is the voltage going to the motor 220vac 110 vac. or some other value?

Is it single phase or three phase?

Single phase.. twin caps...1 start 1 run

220 v a/c

Forgive the poor drawing. The six leads you have may be as above. Test the leads with your multimeter and see if this is what you have.
