HFO Oil System

08/19/2010 8:11 AM

can anybody explain how the hfo tanker being heated for unloading ,pipeline steam heating arrangement(steam coils placing), tank floor coils and tanker heating arrangements in hfo tanks are placed?

Google "hfo tank heating coil arrangement". I found "About 9,950 results (0.40 seconds)"

As in our case, HFO Pipe lines are heated by means of steam tracing lines , which goes along with pipeline, on both sides of pipeline. It goes from I/L of the HFO tank, then O/L of HFO tank and upto the trifacta V/v.It is heated with 11kg/cm2, 220deg, taken from the auxillary steam header, from which steam is also taken for HFO heater, HFO-atomising steam as well as HFO tank heating. Steam tracing lines goes to the waste trench through steam traps.

HFO tank heating is done by indirect heating with the same 11 ata steam , by means of coil placed about 1 Ft from the floor of the HFO tank . I am not sure about the HFO tanker heating arrangement and where it gets the steam from.

Thank you for your valuable response. You told like the steam lines for heating pipe is goes throughout the length of the oil pipe. Whether it wounds over the oil line or it makes any line contact with it. One more thing is, the steam line, condensate line and oil line are totally covered by a single insulation. How the condensate from steam line will drain to condensate line. Condensate line and heating steam line are same one (forwarding -heating steam, returning-condensate) or two are independent pipes. The steam for heating pipe has one entry and 1 out or for a distance a fresh steam will enter into it.

Floor coils for oil tanks is placed inside the tank or outside.

The steam lines are making line contact with the HFO Lines.

In the case of HFO Line from OHP -- Firing floor :--- 11ata line goes parallel with the HFO Line. So, One steam tracing line is tapped off from the 11ata line and it travels a distance with HFO line and then it taken out and drain with the help of steam traps. At this point of taking out, another tracing line is tapped from the 11ata line to trace with HFO line and similary it continues.

But I will check the status of steam tracing lines,& condensate line at Firing floor and Oil Handling plant and let you know as I find out

As for the HFO Tank heating, the steam line [ 2inch line] goes inside the HFO tank and returns back to be drained by means of steam traps.

I can hardly understand what you are trying to say?????

However, I feel that there may be delay in heating of the oil by the steam tracers.

What type (Thermodynamic/Ball Float/Thermostatic/Bimetallic etc) steam traps draining each tracer ends and Storage Tanks? In Steam Tracing -If its Thermodynamic(TD) replace it by Thermostatic/Bi-metallic. In Storage / Heating Tanks if Thermodynamic(TD), replace with Ball Float Steam/Bi-metallic Steam Traps. This will speed up your heating.
