Developing of Film

08/29/2010 8:10 AM

before the etching process that i refer a few weeks i make use of a film to project the the desire design on the carbon steel plate but in some cases the film is not of a good quality due to some hand print on the film...i know also that we should use a holder to develop the film but the problem is that the films in this case are not of the same dimension and can fit in a standard holder....any suggestion from u guys?to improve the quality

Spend the money to standardize your process.

Invest in holders.

Hi Bike750

Firstly : rather use forceps for handling film and not your hands.

Ages ago I had a developer reel/drum that was adjustable to film sizes.

The one end of the reel slided on the shaft.

One had to wiggle the roll film into the spiral grooves, put it in the tank,

It had a funnel and spout and it can be processed in daylight.

For sheet film one could use a tray. I have done A3 size.

For larger quantities there are machines available.

You may find your solution if you visit the X-ray machine.
