09/02/2010 3:42 AM

Is there a topic which details the color used in a processing plant? For example, cooling water with blue color coat, motor with blue color coat, piping line for fire/fire fighter is red...

There is a pan-European standard for pipe service label colours though it is unclear whether it is applicable to plants in Malaysia.

Have a lookat this thread. At least one plant I know of in Malaysia uses the ASME standard

You can make your own color codes for your plant. The thing to remember is to post a key card in locations in the plant so others know the color codes.

If the plant is either a water treatment plant or a wastewater treatment plant, then the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) respectively have color coding standards for process piping and equipment.

Also, the US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) has a color coding standard (via Guideline Specification) for piping, wiring and equipment...

All three sources are a good starting point...

Good luck!
