L&T ER 300P model energymeter can log all the data automatically. All the data can be stored and viewed using their software. Optional RS 232, RS 485 or optical port is available for communication.

This model can give KWH, KVARH, KVA, V, I, MD, pf etc...

Time of the metering (TOD) is provided with this meter. We will get all the data at different time zones.

Which model you are using..

Design a new software (client & server software for this approach any software contracting company) to interface the meter and your computer that can operate with linux. For this type of meter there is two level password for protecting the data. By contacting manufacturer you will get the password. Using this password data can be accessed). For ER 300P there is optional RS 485 port then data will get automatically at that port. You can see the incoming data using 'Hyperterminal' software. Hyperterminal is using just to check that whether data is coming or not. But for this you have to buy a RS 485 to RS 232 convertor. Because hyperterminal can show the data only from RS 232 port serial.

Now you have data in your system (call this system as server). Then using winsock (program for networking) you can access the data from any system (using client software) from server system which is connected to the server system by any means (LAN, Ethernet, Internet etc.) by using the IP address of the server computer.

It is not clear from your posting.Do you want the meter to send the data automatically to a particular device or you will extract data from the meter.

I think what you are expecting is extract data from the meter by some method like blue tooth

Please clarify

the number of meters are large ,ie 10000 .we want to monitor the reading and also should able to calculate the consumtion.the meters are electronic type, and some TOD.we are thinking of an interface which could convert the digital or analog reading already available and the data send through a medium like wireless or fibre optic.

I think Someone from chennai developed such scheme and TNEB implemented for some of the SS.

I was initially involved subsequently left it since not much of support was coming from TNEB.
