Balancing Weights

03/09/2007 4:33 AM

hi, i require some advice on the best mechanism to use.

here is the system:

there are two bodies, body A and body B, body A is connected to body B via a joint. Body A needs to remain in a vertical position while body B rotates through a small angle.

I was thinking of using some sort of bearing and letting gravity do the work, or maybe some sort of counterweight.

Your advice would be appreciated.

It's a little difficult to imagine what you've just described. Could you provide an illustration?

My advice is that you should post a picture and tell us what it's worth. I was also not able to reach your level of abstraction.

Is body A connected to B by fixed or flexible joint? Can you please draw a skitch for that system?

I was also not able to reach your level of abstraction.

Ask my mother inlaw she knows every damn thing. You might consider taking statics and dynamics yourself.

Dear Guest,

You have provided very little information.

A sketch is not entirely necessary, but a better description of the problem is...

I'm guessing you a first year mech design student ?
