My wire is copper colored.

The other thing to always check is whether it's a port brake light (that's red wire) or starboard (that's green), except if it's a car designed for driving on the wrong side of the road (like in the UK) where the port wire is green with a yellow stripe and the starboard wire is red with white stripe. I think. Of course, all this is modified if there's a nor'easter (known as the any port in a storm code).

Unless the vehicle has been modified it will be the same as the one stated in the wiring diagram at the back of the Haynes manual (other car repair manuals are available) for that make and model.
