Compressors

when the engine is constantly loaded to the maximum, and the life of compressor valves is short, then you reduce the lift on compressor valves. Would this help prolong the life of the valves? If so how? Or will it bring another problem if so what problem?

Best way is to have a one direction valve between the compressor and the tank with a relief to atmosphere through the regulator on/off controller. The engine starts at no pressure in the feed line this way.

Is this by any chance a refrigeration compressor, which might be receiving floodback? If so, the problem might not be the heavy loading, but rather the thermal shock of cold liquid striking the valves.
