Pipe Bend Redius Calculation

11/17/2010 5:52 AM

I want to calculate the pipe bend redius for 5D bend of main steam pipe (570^ C temp., P91 material) It is a ID base pipe and pipe ID is 340mm. Pipe thickness is 68mm (MWT). How to calculate the bend redius.

For a 5D bend the bend radius (to centreline) is nominally 5 x diameter, but I don't know offhand whether that is 5 x ID, or OD or nominal dia. I suggest you look in a catalogue, or contact supplier, or go out and measure it.

Cheers......Codey

The "D" in a 5D bend or any other Bend refers to the "Nominal Pipe Size".

Therefore a "5D" Bend in 6" pipe has a 30" Radius.

It would work the same for metric sizes to.
