Chrysler Pacifica 2005 CD/DVD Player

11/22/2010 5:41 PM

My DVD player will not play burned DVD's. Is there a way to update the firmware on this and where do I find it?

Sorry to ask a couple obvious questions, but 1) When you say DVD, are you actually copying movies, or do you mean audio files (CD)? And 2) are you sure that the format you used for these files is one that can be read by the CD/DVD player?

You can probably update your hardware here.

Make sure you are using the right format. If you are copying in a DVD + format, it might not play on a DVD - formatted player. Some will work with either, but some won't.

If good burner software is used and quality DVDs, this is simply not true.

The end result is identical no matter whether a + or a - disk was used.......either will be read by a player that can read DVDs burnt on a PC or DVD Recorder.

If a firmware update does not do the trick, and I would be surprised if it did, you have one of two options:-

1) Try different DVDs from different manufacturers. Re-Writeable are even less likely to be read by slightly older machines, try normal DVDs.

2) Try a different burn program as some do not follow the Blue (? or Red? I forget which) book on DVD compatability......many programs simply do things there own way. By the way cheap DVD players from the far east often can read ANYTHING.......where expensive ones cannot.

3) Try burning at the slowest speed.

4) Accept it as it is and buy a cheap import machine for your DIY DVDs......
