Pressure Relief Vent

11/24/2010 9:23 AM

I'm trying to size a pressure relief vent for a 22 cubic foot box, the low temp is 32°F and the high temp is 260°F it is suppose to transition from high to low temp in 6.25 minutes. Does anyone know if there is a formula for this?

[1 - (32+459)/(260+459)] x 22/6.25 ≈ 1.12 cfm.

At a rough guess of 300 ft/m through the vent, it would have an area of ~0.54 in2.

(The inflow of air may affect the cooling rate.)
