Heat Exchanger Network

12/13/2010 12:49 PM

Hi, I am designing a heat exchanger network for a threshold problem that requires only cold utility. I tried doing the design using simulated annealing but finding it difficult. Does any one have a better idea of how to generate such design? Regards, Christian.

What is the cold utility fluid, and what's its temperature?

The cold utility is cooling water at 250C.

Congratulations on having a job. So many qualified professionals are out of work today. You are lucky.

I'd start with this selection

Elementary thermodynamics : Parker, John : Free Download ...

and then advance to other texts which are more detailed.

Maybe I'm just behind the times, but that seems rather jargon-laden.

"heat exchanger network"?
"threshold problem"?
"simulated annealing"? (Yeah, that's an FEA term.)

What is the general nature of this HX? Shell/tube, plate/frame, nested coil, other?

Isn't that interesting. I give my usual "don't ask us to do your work for you" response and get a GA.

You actually try to help the OP and get OT'd.

I'll just negate that OT for you.
