Uber-Cool Road Trip

Here is a really cool and fun story about the first road trip ever taken, by Frau Bertha Ringer Benz (Mrs. Benz), without her husband's permission*. (It was his experimental car she borrowed). The year was 1888.

She has to stop for 'gas', fix a clogged fuel line, and fix the brakes, by herself, during the trip.

First road trip ever!

*She may have invented the notion that it is better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.

Great story! I like her spunky and practical attitude. It reminds me of a few other uppity women of ancient/medieval/recent times, such as Atalanta, Sappho, Hypatia, Jeanne Darc, QEI, Aphra Behn, Abigail Adams, Margaret Fuller, Victoria Woodhull, Bettina von Arnim, Marie Curie, Amy Noether, Lise Meitner, Rosalind Franklin, and Carol Bartz, to name too few. Further researches may be well rewarded, to say nothing of other names that might come forth.

sounds like she managed the benz in the road just fine on the way to grannies house with the kids... a resourceful woman.

probably because the big bad wolf was wondering where his car went.
