Is it necessary to ground my PC i mean if it is grounded via a 3pin power cable of home earthing.
My friend said seperate earthing is necessary for a computer.
Anybody got an idea of computer earthing?
(1ph.,230V,50Hz)
Unless, as many people do, you built your own and failed to pay attention to the detail of making sure your mother board has a good ground connection to the power supply (which is where the ground connection is made to the cord) and/or the chasis. This happens a lot and may explain why your friend had to worry about it. But if you bought a computer that was already factory assembled, this would have been done and tested prior to shipment.

If the equipment is marked with a 'double insulated' symbol (a square within a square), then it is unneccessary to earth it, and to do so might invalidate the manufacturer's warranty if still running.
The purpose of the earth conductor is to operate the circuit protective device(s) in the event of a fault.

There are specific methods used to prevent and/or safely dissipate static buildup so that it does not occur. If this is your problem, do some Google research on anti-static products and procedures.
Before adding my own static discharge prevention, I could easily "reboot" my computer with small discharges from fingers to keyboard or mouse. This can cause permanent damage to PC components so prevention is important.
