Defy 620 Cooker

01/14/2011 4:35 PM

i have a 620 defy stove that had a problem with the switches of the cooker plates. i went to buy the spares and i bought four switches that looked very different from the ones i saw installed on the cooker. i was assured the spares are diferent from the ones that come with the unit. my problem is after installing the switches they are not working accordingly. they are just comming on and not controlling the temperature. the new switches have a neutral connection which i haven't connected yet since the original switches had no provision for a neutral connection, only the live was wired through the switch. can someone help?

Is it REALLY a Defy 620?

You mention 'cooker plates'. The 621 has solid heat plates, and the 620 has spiral heat elements. Do you really have a model 621? The controls would be different.

Owners Manual for Defy 620/621/631 here.

Why did you buy the "spares"? What was wrong with the original switches? When you said that you installed them, I would more accurately name them a replacement.

You said: i was assured the spares are diferent from the ones that come with the unit.

Who told you they were different? If they were the replacement switch sellers, they should have given you a wiring diagram that would work with these new "different" switches. Did they mention anything about this? If they didn't, maybe someone sold you the wrong switches just to make some money. Maybe they aren't Factory Authorized parts sellers.

Also, we have no idea what country you are in. Different countries have different household electric power configurations.

It would help immensely if you gave diagrams and even model numbers of the replacement switches AND the switches they replaced.

You said: can someone help? (the first word of a sentence should be capitalized, by the way). Yes, there is a lot of potential help here, but you must cough up specific information!

Thanks for your help if it can be termed that way. I really appreciate it.

Wow. Looks like you don't want help, seeing as you won't give details. Good luck.
