Natural Gas Compositions and Contaminants

02/05/2011 2:01 PM

Hi all,

Does anyone know any websites or literature I could go to in order to find the compositions of natural gas from natural gas mines? Information for pipeline compositions and contaminants are well established in the US and UK, but other foreign countries have significantly less documentation (specifically Qatar we're curious about).

Any help or nudges in the right direction would be appreciated!

Perhaps you can tell us why Qatar?

You might try the USGS and specifically go to the country specialist, or you can send an email to the commercial attache at the US Embassey.

I do know that their nat. gas is high in sulfur. Other than that I don't have the specific analysis.

We are doing a project that takes natural gas and converts it into a commercially sellable synthesized gas and electricity with minimum emissions.

We looked into Qatar because of their high preserves and low consumption but other than those figures we're having a tough time getting any kind of information about that area.

It's a nice suggestion to email the country specialist directly and see about getting some sort of information that way, thanks :D

Just type in your google search, "Qatar natural gas chemical analysis", or go to the US EIA for all the info you want.

Wikiepedia also has an interesting sheet on nat. gas.

You will also find from this info contacts in Qatar at their Petro org.

I assume that you have some technology that you wish to sell to Qatar? You would be better off going there. They don't like to deal through the internet and you'll get stalled until hell freezes over.

Let me know if you need help. That's what we do.

If you can determine who the prime petro vendor in Qatar is, you might approach them directly to request an analysis showing the limits of variation. I don't know if published almanac-type info would "drill down" very closely.
