Compressor Temperature Monitoring

02/17/2011 12:00 PM

I have a compressor with approx. 20 RTD's for bearings and motor windings and gas temp's etc. The panel mounted monitor that also generated alarms and trips is old and obsolete. Can someone sugest a replacement device.

I don't have the room to wire this many RTD's to my DCS and do the alarming and trip function remotely.

I would prefer to keep it in the local panel with a readout display and alarm and trip functions.

The old unit had three modules of 8 channels each.

Or these other guys. (Disclaimer).

I like this style because the PLC ends up being a single unit. The basic unit is the screen and processor. The input modules, such as RTD, are attached to the back.

I was somewhat taken aback. I'm working on exactly that right now. 24 alarms on a compressor.

Screen shot of the first 6 alarms function block layout below.

Honeywell HC-900. Rock solid. I use it because the universal input cards take RTD or 4-20mA (or thermocouple) directly on any input. 1 spare analog card fits all.
