Dr Kalam, one of India's foremost scientists, who became the President of India, in a rare moment of political sanity.
i, for one, sincerely hope that if not all, most of Dr Kalam's dreams come true. i probably won't be around, but all the best to my countrymen, God bless.

I may have been wrong in doing so, but I took a contrarian stance to the OP because the OP offered no summary or orientation to the line of thought being suggested.
In the West, we may know of the Prime Ministers of India, but some other officials are more obscure. If there was a rare moment of political sanity with Dr. Kalam, what happened to it?

You were quite justified in responding the way you did, since the OP started in the middle. So, i gave the link that gives all the details of Dr Kalam's vision.
i for one was surprised that the political system elected such a learned and respected man to the exalted position of President of India. Normally, this post is seen as a 'rubber-stamp' for a powerful prime minister, but Dr Kalam brought it a richly deserved stature, showing he is not just a figurehead, but a person who has the vision and ability to see several generations ahead, while the Prime Minister and his party are busy running the country day to day.
Dr Kalam, a man greatly admired.
What i meant was that such a sane decision of electing such a man is rare. Given the calibre of most power-hungry, illiterarate and corrupt politicians. Not only in India, elsewhere too.

Caste system still prevail in some pockets, but there is good legal frame work against it, and in years to it will go as more and more people comes under the umbrella of some level of education.
About population there is no choice, but take it as a blessing in disguise But again its all about quality of education.
Every one in this world want to see his/her country progressing and true to me too.
But what determine the future of a nation? it is the young people those are studying in schools and colleges, and to be very frank Look on the quality of posts from our fellow countrymen on this forum, unfortunately this doesn't give a very good indications for future,
We have the second highest number of member on this forum but what does they do on this forum, most of them just beg for information and helps and look like a third grade student. I am sorry but thats is the Representative of reality,
Its better for us if we can look on the real problem rather then worrying about international status. status will come automatically if we really deserve it.
But there is no reason to loose hope so long we have open and democratic society, there is much higher chance of success if we compare it with some of other upcoming nations with different set political system.
