ACDB/ DCDB

02/20/2011 10:33 PM

Is there any difference in the testing methodology for ACDB & DCDB?

(Means testing for ACDB is different from that of DCDB?)

How about applying AC to the former, and DC to the latter? Elephino.

ACDB - AC Distribution Board; DCDB - DC Distribution board.

They are LT basically panels meant to supply the required supply(AC or DC) for the local accessories and auxiliaries. The testing procedure of the two is the same. The only difference may be in the testing of its individual components (like ammeter, voltmeter, MFM, etc.) since the types of meters used might be different for AC and DC.

The basic insulation test, which is done on any panel (3KV test for 10 mins) is common to both of them.

Don't they need to be tested as per IEC 60439 in IEC countries and as per NEMA in US ? A conditional short-circuit test is involved i think?

As the OP seems to be from India, i must point out that there may be difficulty in testing a DC board. Only limited facilities available.

I guess, you are working in some reputed test laboratory in India? Am I right?
