I was just wondering if anyone knows the main differences between Music Wire Spring and Stainless Steel Springs.

Thank you,

Tom

Hi lynlynch,

I gave you a GA as the answer was "spot on".

I see you as a, hollow eyed, hawk like creature, perched on the back of your chair (not sitting in it) infront of your PC, swooping down to feed tit bits of information to the poor know nothing hoards that abound on CR4.

John

PS

Hollow eyed because "do you ever leave your computer"?

Hi

A less romantic but probably more accurate image.

Ah, shiny beads and shallow flattery... works every time.

Hi,

I thought a little flattery gets you every thing, or is it nothing?

Awesome answer by Lyn as usual. Lots of horseplay too....great.

Main thing:

i use stainless steel for contact springs in switchgear. Why? Negligible ferromagnetic effect, and high temperarature withstand. Everywhere else, Music wire. Why? More work per gram. Simple, value for money.

G = 8300 MPa for Music wire vs 7300 MPa for SS.
