Pressure Vessel & Stack

03/05/2011 2:52 AM

Does any one know how to mechanically design a flare stack?

do you have any exact & step by step procedure?

do you have any clear example?

I have heard Mechanical Design of process sys. vol.2 by A.Keith Escoe is a good reference, but i don't have it. can anyone upload it ?

thanks a lot

It would probably be easier to buy a copy. I doubt that anyone would want to scan in a 10MB .pdf and send it to you, copyright issues or not.

Such designs are likely to be quite complex, and most will also be proprietary. You can use stoichiometric chemical data to determine how much air/oxygen is needed to combust the gas to be flared, and then design a mixing system accordingly. (Maybe.)

Whatever gas is of interest, you might search on the matching "gas flare" and come up with a few hits. There was a recent thread about H2S and NH3 incinerators that gave many examples.

The following files are free download for flare selection, sizing and mechanical design of self supported type: Flare_Selection_and_Sizing_by_KLM & Flare_Stack_Mechanical_Design.

For more details, see CR4 Thread Vent-Stack-Mechanical-Design.

I really appreciate your help,

these file are really applicable,

but Mr. Abdel i have another question as it seems you are really expert in this field,

I just wonder how do you calculate seismic load for tall vertical vessel? Especially for multi diameter flare. I'm really confused about this & I have not found a safe & reliable method. Do you have any procedure & sample?

Best regards,
