I've used SAP in the past, and I found the functionality fairly easy to assume ownership...never had the need to elevate my skill level....but,
I have to ask, as I am sure you probably work for a greater entity that uses the platform...your organization surely has what could be consdiered "power-users" in SAP, that are a resource & you could draw knowledge from?
SAP was founded in 1972 as "Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung" (System Analysis and Programs Developement) and later the name was changed in "Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung" (Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing).
It is German software very used around the world by the corporations.
We started using SAP at my employer about 18 months ago, still learning a lot. They do have EXTENSIVE online help files, the hard part is finding that needle in the haystack. There are books written on the subject, probably even ones available locally at the Public Library, or perhaps used ones available online.
Well, coming straight from their website FAQ, it's:
Systems, Applications, and Products
When we first started using it, I thought it must be something in German, because I thought it was a German company. After looking at a few more FAQ's, it was actully founded by 5 former IBM employees. It does mention now that it is "A European Company"
