CR4 Login Question

03/23/2011 8:10 AM

I am trying to see if there is a simpler way of using CR4. Let me give you my experience- may be you could suggest simpler steps.

Let us say I wish to read a response to CR4 blog. I get a message in my yahoo mail box. and I open it.

It opens into anew IE window.
Then I wish to respond to the the discussion. Now I am supposed to login. Now a IE window opens. I enter my loin details and click on it. Now the same window says I am registered.

Now I am forced to go back to my yahoo mail id and again select the blog for discussion- but this time I am shown the same window- but as registered. I think it is too many steps. When I register, why does it not open straight away with into my old blog window?

I'm not with Admin but assuming you are using your own, personal computer and not a public one i.e. university, library, ect., just stay logged in.

This is what I do and I do not have the problem that you described.

Note that once you clear your cookies, you will have to log in again.

Hope this helps!

"...I enter my loin details..."

Please don't enter your loin details.

You mention entering your loin details and clicking on "it." By "it", do you mean something in your loin area? I'd recommend keeping your mouse on your desk.

Ordinarily, to enter a discussion from an email notification, you just click on the link in the email, and (provided you have cookies enabled) you are taken directly to that discussion, and you are automatically logged in. Sounds like you do not have cookies enabled.

Be sure that you are choosing the Login option on the screen - not register. You are already a registered user. You do not need to register again. Just login using your credentials (user name and password) that you have already established (see Login circled below on the right).

Also, if you allow IE to remember your login information, you should stay logged in all the time and shouldn't have to enter your user name and password every time you visit CR4. (Check that your browser has cookies enabled and doesn't clear them every time you close IE.) You may also want to try using Firefox.

Keep your browser open, set CR4 as your home page, and just tab into it a few times a day.

I'm often several days late in updating my contribution to discussions, and nobody has been too upset. Can't think why.

Thanks. I got it. I had selected delete browsing history under General section - under Internet options under tools.

Though I wanted the computer to remember pass word and login id elsewhere, it was I suppose deleted because of first selection - selected above.

I wish someone from internet explorer takes note of this contrary requirements.

I unsubscribed from the newsletter .

when I have time (or sometimes inbetween) I either log on to http://cr4.globalspeck.com or http://cr4.globalspec.com/browse/allthreads

Both cookies have my logon name and password therefore it is quick access.

I set up a filter & a label [folder] on my Gmail account

I can tell when there is a new reply to any of my subscriptions, after I open a tab to CR4 I delete all the email notifications & use the updated discussions button here on CR$

i use Mozilla Firefox. It remembers my user id and password, so, when i click on the link given in the mail, a new tab opens with me logged in already. You may want to try this....
