I think you hve to pay attation to wait for some hours. It may be some reason of time difference between servicer and your local.

try to wait for about 6 hours and then see your post.

'Seems to take a few minutes to appear. Sometimes I think it's the way the links are set up.

After I post a reply, click on Home, and reopen the thread, my post isn't there. But if I click on "See All Forum Threads", and click on the thread, it's there.

Same thing happens when I click on the "nn updated discussion" link. My post would not be there.

New comments and threads are live immediately after posting. I suspect that the problem is related to page caching, either in your browser itself or perhaps on a "proxy server". (Proxy servers are sometimes used in an office to reduce bandwidth needs, and some ISPs use them to make pages appear to download quicker.)

One test of this notion is to slightly alter the url of the page that you think should show your new post.... that should cause whatever is caching the page to do get a fresh copy. Just about any url can be altered harmlessly by adding an "url parameter" after the "?" in the url. So, and url like http://website/page can be changed to http://website/page?x=1 and and url that already has a "?" in it (like the one I just made) would be changed like this: http://website/page?x=1&a=2

So, if reloading a page does not show what you expect (your new post added, for example), try adding an url parameter. If this causes the new thing to appear then the problem was related to caching.

Thanks
- Mark

I have caught out CR4 censoring my posts. I made a post with genuine reason to want to know and got the reply that my post had been refused. No reason given come on CR4 if you think what I am asking is not up to your standards explain why.

Also why do you let some of the truly awful things go by? Be fair and transparent.

Ah, yes, well that is different. The original question sounded to me like "My post isn't there until three hours later", and that would be a caching problem.

Problems with content, and the resulting deletion, are going to happen and if I were you I would send an email to cr4admin@globalspec.com to discuss a specific case. (I'm not going to try to speak for someone else.)

As to why something "truly awful" was not removed, it may be because no one took the time to "Report" it and our editors missed it. Please use that mechanism when you see something like that. (The "Report" button appears below every thread, command, private message, user profile, etc.)

Hi Brainwave,

Looking back through our logs I see that a number of your thread starting posts have been moderated, mostly these were changes to the headline so that users will locate them more easily. In only one instance was a post deleted, but that was because it was posted in two forums, which is against CR4 Policy. We did, however, leave one of the posts active in the more relevant forum.

Here is a list of all the thread starters you posted on CR4 this month – all are active:

Missing post's.

Posts going missing again.

Computer Hardware Forum

Biological Forum

Why are there so few answers, but so many questions

Wind Turbines: Could the Earth Come to a Standstill?

Plasmonics

Problems with Windows IE 7, Rev 2

Are there other specific entries that you cannot find?

I hvnt met that #3 situation, what I met is lag prompt below the top red bar. every time I participated a discurss, the number will be added one. but sometimes, it often lag display my new discuss thread number until several hours, for example, if the number is 30 and after i post 2 threads, the prompt would be (32 updated discuss), but in fact, its still 30 update discuss. after several hours, say, 5--9 hours, the prompt will be 32 updated discuss. I always think it maybe time lag because our zone is different from -8zone. and when we work , the server will sleep. when they begin work they add new pormpt.

Hi

The updated discussion counts should be accurate; different time zones should not cause a problem. Maybe this is a page caching problem on the "Subscribed Discussions" page? If you get into this spot and refreshing that page doesn't help then send a message to cr4admin@globalspec.com and I'll check it out. (I've had issues with that feature before so it could be that it isn't 100% fixed yet. Seeing real bad data would be very helpful.)

Thanks
- Mark

I've seen similar happen. My strategy now is to do a copy (to clipboard ) if it's long , that way if things seem to crash I can paste back to the editor. Kris

Hmm.. All I can say is that it is not our servers doing it... each post goes live right away. I strongly suspect a caching issue, and suggest you try the "alter the url" method I described earlier to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks
- Mark
