What I mean is, I click on one product I can see what is available in stock and any other info I may included

I suggest you use hyperlinks.

This is an example using the CR4 post editor, but you can do a similar thing in a Word doc or an Excel spreadsheet (and I assume it also works in OpenOffice etc.).

1) Insert your image (I've used a screen grab of the hyperlink button, below)

2) Select the image

3) Click on the hyperlink button on the toolbar

4) Enter the target (may be called a URL - universal resource locator) for the hyperlink

In this case I've linked to the CR4 FAQs. If it was in, say, a doc on my PC, I could've linked to a jpg with another image, or to a chart in an Excel spreadsheet.

Yes you should be able to link to a spreadsheet and can use that as a popup which you can populate from a database if you want so it changes as the products or qty change. It wouldn't happen instantly and you would have to manually export the data, but you can use a macro for that in the database. Then the spreadsheet on the web-server would have to be updated with the current one.

You may want to try a program called xmind. You can put your picture in the center topic, then provide "child topics" which include hyperlinks. I did this recently with a project for a University- links included local files, we sites, and one can even add notes to the various children. Here's an example from a recent blog of mine:

Not very clear when reduced to a size we can use here, but note that many of the boxes have little globes- these are hyperlinks (to web sites, in this case). Note also, some of the images are floating around all by themselves, while some are boxed inside a topic. Very versatile.

Most importantly, xmind is free...

I discovered it by accident a few months back, looking for something to use to diagram an organization chart. Since then, I have found all sorts of uses for it. I really like the basic concept of the "mind mapping" algorithm, and the fact that one can dynamically change the links and explore different relationships...

Glad you enjoy it.

Link it to a spreadsheet, at least you can update the spreadsheet and it will be easier to update.
