Regarding Automation Networking

05/18/2011 2:40 AM

How can I communicate Micrologix1100 with Powerflex 4 drive and message instruction used for this as well as how can I know that drive is communicating with PLC? I am having 1761-nc01 cable and ethernet switch and Micrologix 1100 as well as 1200.

Powerflex 4 communicates serially via RS-232/485, but so does your Micrologix. I suggest you direct your research in that direction.

Rockwell (Allen Bradley) part 22-COMM-E is an ethernet port for a PowerFlex 4. Rockwell's Proposal Works says it fits - I haven't tried the ethernet model. Check when you order the part for a different cover for the PowerFlex. Some of the smaller frames won't hold the communication card without a modified cover. AB doesn't tell you this until you call them and ask why the card won't fit in the PowerFlex case. Nearly missed a ship date waiting for a cover for a size A frame the first time I put a communication card in a PowerFlex 4.
