05/20/2011 12:11 AM

Does anyone know where applicable tolerance regarding ASME code flange machining comes from?

Please advise me.

It was Commandment 273, handed down by Almighty God. Just read the specs....

Hi Lyn,

I think we should say "AMEN" to this thread now before we get suggestions for all of the 263 missing standards.

Best regards,

John

I don't know about many, but #86 is Acircle = πr2. This is buried in some long-lost Kabbala that has remained largely undiscovered. (Euclid or somebody had to figure it out independently.)

At both ASME B16.5 "Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings, NPS 1/2 - NPS 24" and ASME B16.47 "Large Diameter Steel Flanges, NPS 26 - NPS 60", you can find the tolerances at Para. 7.
