Wireless Remote for Forward Reverse Starter

05/28/2011 12:39 AM

Dear Sirs,

In our company we are having 3 Movable trolleys operated with Forward / Reverse starters. At present these are operated by remote wired push buttons. We are planning to arrange Wireless remotes for these operations. Can any body suggest the best available technology for this operations.

Something like a garage door opener remote--and maybe even that very thing. (But how remote is "remote"?)

I would recommend infrared where you require line of site of the trolleys.

I say this due to a bad experience with new a radio-controlled crane. Before the crane was handed over to production the control transmitter was stored in my office. One of the production managers came in to see me and while in the office started pressing buttons on the transmitter. Unbeknown to us the crane was quite happily causing havoc in the plant. The radio control was never put in to service after that!

!! Reminds me of the berserk robotic line in the movie Brainstorm. Some security with access codes and passwords might help.

It's line of sight that matters, there should be no way of operating the machine unless you can see it.

A very good friend was crushed by a machine due to this very reason.

Try these guys..

radio or IR

Depending on what type of lighting you have IR may not be as reliable, but Tony has a great reason for it's strong consideration..

Kskaprasad,

assuming that the trolley passageway is visible to the operator while operating reverse/forward direction, why can't use car wireless alarm and key less control where you can control it by pressing open/close button from the remote controlling two 12 volts dry relay contact for your reverse/forward magnetic starter.

At the same time you can utilize the horn/alarm button if you want to call the attention of person blocking the way it can utilize the unit as intermittent alarm while the trolley is in operation should you wish as well... crazy but good idea isn't it. I used this car wireless control system in many occasion but different application with the same concept.

Good luck

Roman
