Your internet search function must be broken. Oh wait! You got here. How did you find CR4?

Two main methods: 1) distillation (evaporation/condensation), and 2) reverse osmosis.

Hi Amith,

Multistage Flash Distillation (only one of several different distillation processes):

Schematic of a multi-stage flash desalinator
A - Steam in
B - Seawater in
C - Potable water out
D - Waste out
E - Steam out
F - Heat exchange
G - Condensation collection
H - Brine heater

Reverse Osmosis (only one of several membrane-based processes):

Schematics of a reverse osmosis system (desalination) using a pressure exchanger.
1: Sea water inflow,
2: Fresh water flow (40%),
3: Concentrate Flow (60%),
4: Sea water flow (60%),
5: Concentrate (drain),
A: High pressure pump flow (40%),
B: Circulation pump,
C: Osmosis unit with membrane,
D: Pressure exchanger

There are quite a few other methods, but you can look them up on your own (internet search engines are quite useful. Expedient too.).

All this info came from Wikipedia and is freely available to anyone who has an internet connection and can do simple searches.

if you pass high current thru sea water you get highly chlorinated water, all you then need to do is remove the chlorine.
